Owner and Founder

Shane Shirey is the founder of Southeast Spreading and a lifelong entrepreneur in the landscape services industry. He began his career in Naples, Florida, in 1996, where he gained firsthand experience in large-scale landscape operations and quickly recognized an opportunity to create a more professional approach to pine straw installation.

What started with a small side job soon grew into a full-scale operation serving golf courses throughout Southwest Florida. As the business evolved, Shane identified a growing demand for professional mulch installation in residential and commercial communities. He recognized the opportunity to build a dedicated service around an industry need that was often handled in-house or through inconsistent labor.

That vision became the foundation for Southeast Spreading. Over the years, Shane has helped shape the company from a small, hands-on operation into a growing organization serving customers across multiple markets.

Shane’s entrepreneurial mindset continues to influence the company’s culture and direction. He believes in identifying opportunities, solving problems for customers, and building a business through hard work, strong relationships, and consistent execution. His hands-on experience and deep understanding of the landscape industry remain an important part of Southeast Spreading’s foundation and continued growth.

Chief Executive Officer & Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Cook is an accomplished business leader with more than two decades of experience in sales, operations, P&L management, business development, and organizational leadership. As CEO and CFO of a leading national mulch and ground-cover installation company, Kevin has helped drive significant growth while strengthening profitability, operational efficiency, and organizational discipline.

Previously, Kevin served as Regional Vice President and Division Sales Manager for TruGreen LandCare, where he led multi-location operations and business development across the East Division. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles with Circuit City, overseeing large, multi-state operations and leading transformational initiatives.

Kevin is known for his hands-on, data-driven leadership style and his commitment to accountability, talent development, operational excellence, and sustainable growth. He believes lasting success comes from aligning strategy with execution and empowering people to perform at their best.
